Terrace Development

CLIENT: MR RAGHUVEER, JAYANAGAR, BANGALORE.

TEAM : SORTED PANDIT STUDIO - ABHIROOP ROY,  MURTUZA DHILAWAL AND ANANYA TRIPATHI

PROJECT BRIEF:  TO  CREATE A WORKSTATION FOR THE IT PROFESSIONAL MR RAGHU TO UTILISE HIS TERRACE EFFECTIVELY. THE SPACE'S DESIGN IS BASED ON ITS INTENDED USAGE BY HIS FAMILY, PREDOMINANTLY FOR TAKING CALLS AND HOSTING GUESTS. THE DESIGN TAKES INTO ACCOUNT ERGONOMICS AND SUSTAINABLE UPCYCLING OF MATERIALS TO NAVIGATE THE BUDGET. LOCALLY SOURCED BRICK, TIMBER AND TILES ALLOW FOR A REDUCTION IN GREENHOUSE FOOTPRINTS AND ARE CATALYTIC FOR NATURAL ABIOTIC FACTORS TO LIGHT UP AND VENTILATE THE SPACE.

Client Needs -

THE CLIENT REQUESTED FOR THE TERRACE TO BE CONVERTED INTO A WELL-VENTILATED BUT SHADED OFFICE. THE WALLS WERE REQUIRED TO BE COVERED WITH PLANT POTS AND HENCE A BRICK PATTERN WAS DEVELOPED TO ALLOW FOR THE RESTING OF CORTEN STEEL PLANTERS WHILE THE JAALI PATTERN ALLOWS FOR PRIVACY, LIGHT AND WIND TO ENTER.  FURTHERMORE, THE CLIENT ALSO REQUIRED A BACKDROP IN A MOBILE BOOKSHELF TO MEET HIS WORK NEEDS. THE EXISTING TERRACE HAS A SUNROOF, A ROOM WITH AN ATTACHED BATHROOM AND A SPIRAL STAIRCASE LEADING UP TO THE OVERHEAD TANK.
